Olivia Soares

Born and raised in Northern California, Olivia has always had a passion for rugby. Olivia played rugby throughout high school and then went on to attend San Diego State University, where she earned a degree in Hospitality Management with a Minor in Leadership.

At SDSU, Olivia couldn’t find a women’s rugby team—so she decided to create one. Starting from scratch, she transformed what was once an extracurricular activity into a team strong enough to earn a National Championship slot in 2022.

After college, Olivia contributed to the growth of rugby in Southern California by working with Southern California Youth Rugby as well as Imagine Rugby, where she supported both organizations in their efforts to grow the game and strengthen the rugby community as a whole.

Now, Olivia brings her passion for expanding the sport to the Legion, where she plays a key role in community outreach. Olivia is dedicated to building strong connections with local communities and creating opportunities for people of all ages and backgrounds to get involved in rugby. Her mission is not only to grow the rugby community but also to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where individuals can develop their skills, build confidence, and experience the teamwork and camaraderie that rugby is known for.
