Haley Harris

Haley Harris is the Rugby Development Officer and Academy Coach for Women’s and Girls’ Rugby with The Legion. In her role, Haley is dedicated to growing the sport of rugby for women and girls in the San Diego area, leveraging her passion for the game and deep-rooted connection to the local rugby community.
A San Diego native, Haley’s rugby journey began at a young age, learning and playing within the same youth programs she now seeks to help expand and nurture. She has played rugby at a high level both domestically and internationally, including representing the U.S. as a High School All-American at the 2017 CANAM Games in Ottawa, Canada, competing with Atlantis at the Paris World Games, and playing for the San Diego Surfers in the Women’s Premier League (WPL). She also played NCAA Division I rugby for Mount St. Mary’s University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, followed by an MBA with a concentration in management.
Haley’s commitment to rugby extends beyond playing; she has been coaching since her teenage years, most recently serving as an assistant coach for the University of Wyoming Men’s rugby team. Her philosophy emphasizes not only the technical aspects of the game but also the growth of the game as a whole, aiming to ensure that rugby is accessible to as many players as possible.
With a career driven by passion for the sport, Haley’s focus is on creating opportunities for the next generation of women and girls to experience the power and community of rugby. She is excited to contribute to the development of San Diego’s rugby landscape and continue giving back to the sport that changed her life.
