The San Diego Legion proudly announces the re-signing of the legendary All-Black and two-time Rugby World Cup champion Ma'a Nonu for the 2024 Major League Rugby season. This monumental signing heralds an era of ambition and success for the Legion as they set their sights on the ‘Quest For The Shield’ title this season.
Ma'a Nonu's career speaks for itself; his reputation as one of the world's most dynamic and skilled players is undeniable. With 103 Test matches under his belt for New Zealand, Nonu has established himself as a formidable presence on the international rugby scene.

Nonu's World Cup experiences are particularly noteworthy. He has won two World Cups, 5 Tri-Nations/Rugby Championships, and 8 Bledisloe Cups. His club career is equally distinguished, featuring 159 games in Super Rugby; he sits in seventh place on Super Rugby's all-time try-scoring chart with 56 tries. Nonu's professional journey has seen him don the jerseys of the Hurricanes, Highlanders, Blues, Chiefs, and Toulon in France and now, once again, the San Diego Legion in the USA.
Nonu's accolades speak volumes about his impact on the sport. In 2015, he was awarded the New Zealand Player of the Year award. In 2016, he won the Sportsperson of the Year and has also been appointed as a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to rugby. In 2020, he was honored with inclusion in the World Rugby Team of the back-to-back decades from 2000—2019.
