San Diego Legion is thrilled to announce the appointment of Alex Corbisiero as Scrum Coach.

San Diego Legion is thrilled to announce the appointment of Alex Corbisiero as Scrum Coach. Corbisiero had an illustrious playing career, featuring in over 100 Premiership Rugby appearances between London Irish (2008-2013) and Northampton Saints (2013-2016) where he was a member of the team that won the Premiership Rugby championship in 2014. Despite being born in America, he was eligible to represent England, Italy, Ireland and the US, and in 2010, Corbisiero made the decision to represent his mother’s home country of England. The loose-head prop went on to win 31 caps for the English National team, in addition to being capped twice on the 2013 British & Irish Lions tour to Australia.

Following a premature end to his playing career due to injury, Corbisiero applied his expert rugby brain, passion for developing young players and enthusiasm for the sport into both rugby coaching and media.

His coaching credentials include two years with the MLR’s LA Giltini’s (2021-2022), whilst he is also World Rugby’s scrum advisor to their Referee Panel.

Corbisiero also serves as an analyst during NBC Sports Group’s coverage of Premiership Rugby and Six Nations Championship Rugby.

"We are thrilled to have Corbs onboard with Legion. He is a highly sought-after coach with years of experience in the dark arts of scrummaging. His level of excitement and passion for the game is second to none and this will rub off on the players, elevating them to a new level." Says Danny Lee, Head Coach of the San Diego Legion

Corbisiero says “I am excited to start this new chapter with the San Diego Legion; it's a city I love living in. I have enjoyed my time coaching in Los Angeles for the past few years and I’m very grateful to the organization. Still, the opportunity rose here with the Legion to take more of a full-time position and to continue my journey as a scrum coach, something I’m very passionate about. I am thrilled to delve into other areas of rugby in terms of recruitment, sponsorships, working with the coaching team, and helping develop the next generation of American props”.
